Gracie jiu-jitsu started it’s evolution in the early 1900’s when Japanese jiu-jitsu instructor Esai Maeda “Count Koma” became friends with Gastao Gracie and began teaching his son Carlos. Carlos then passed jiu-jitsu on to his youngest brother Helio, father of Hoyce Gracie. Helio Gracie is one of the founders of whats commonly refereed to as Brazilian jiu-jitsu. Helio broke away from traditional Japanese jiu-jitsu and adapted it into one of the best self defence arts in the world.

Gracie jiu-jitsu is an empowering self defence system that has been developed to permit anyone, of any size, shape or athletic ability to practice it. The techniques and teaching methods have been perfected and tested by more than 40 members of the Gracie family for over a century.

The Gracie curriculum is taught at Dragon Martial Arts by Warren Lee and Gary Doucet. Instructors Royce & Rodrigo Gracie, visit the school twice a year to give seminars and access students progress. Royce is a legendary black belt and 3 time Ultimate Fighting Champion. Along with countless other accredits his G.R.A.C.I.E. course is international recognize and practices by law enforcement, army, navy and network schools across the world including Canada, the United States, England, Scotland, Portugal, Spain, Israel, Australia, UAE and South America.
