Dragon Martial Arts Academy Policy

Welcome to Dragon Martial Arts Academy (DMA). This studio is owned and operated by Mr. Warren Lee, 4th Dan Tae Kwon Do black belt. Warren has been teaching tae kwon do for 24 years with 28 years experience. The assistant instructor is Derek hall, 1st Dan black belt with 8 years experience.

New Student Registration
New students may sign up for a free trial week (3 classes). If the student decides to continue with classes after the trial week, the annual membership fee and a series of cheques post dated for the first of every month to the end of June must be processed by DMA prior to the student starting class on a regular basis. If a student begins classes mid month then a half-month fee will apply. If a student will only be able to make one class per week then a special rate may apply. Mr. Warren lee only can make exceptions to this financial policy. Payment must be received before a student will be considered a registered student.

Returning Students

Returning students must register before attending any classes. Annual membership and post-dated cheques must be processed before participating in class. All policies for half month, single class and exceptions are as outlined above.

Equipment Sales
Equipment purchased through DMAA must be paid for by cash or cheque before it is taken home. For out of stock items, orders will be filled once a month only and all orders must be paid upon delivery.


Students will be notified of scheduled tests. Students must be registered (with the instructors consent) one week in advance. No exceptions to this rule. Test fees are to be paid in advance or the student will not be able to take the test. Full uniform must be worn during tests, no T-shirts.

Dress Code
Students must wear a Dragon Martial Arts Academy Uniform (Dobok). The only exception will be a tournament T-shirt or a Dragon Martial Arts T-shirt with the uniform pants. No other clothing will be allowed other than when a student has just registered and is waiting for a uniform to arrive. No short shirts for ladies or short shorts. We also ask that finger and toe nails are kept trimmed for the safety of students training together. When students arrive no shoes are to be worn in the studio. They should be left in the shoe rack at the bottom of the stairs before proceeding to the change rooms.

Attendance and Statutory Holidays
Steady attendance helps the student feel like part of the program. The studio is open three days per week September through to June. We will be closed all Statutory Holidays, and School District No. 70’s school holidays including Halloween. There are no refunds for absentee students. The studio will be closed for the months of July and August.


If you or your child discovers it is necessary to withdraw from classes, please let the instructors know immediately. One month written notice is required. Failure to provide proper notice will result in a forfeiture of one months fee.

Health Issues
If a student is ill with a cold or flue please do not attend class out of courtesy to other students. Unfortunately, days missed due to illness, weather, holidays or family vacation are non-refundable.

Open Door Policy

The studio is open for parents to see their children anytime. We do ask that parents remain upstairs so not distract the students during class. Any questions or concerns will be quickly addressed. Students may come early for class to quietly practice without distracting the currently running class. None of the exercise equipment along the back wall is touched for safety reasons.

Property Damage

Damage to the Dragon Martial Arts Academy studio or equipment due to carelessness may the responsibility of the offending student. Recklessness, poor attitude or foul language will not be tolerated. Respect and self-discipline is encouraged.
